Steve James Workshop: Blues Mandolin
Blues Mandolin with Steve James. This session will cover the basics of getting that bluesy mandolin sound that was used so often in classic country blues and jug band music and is experiencing a renaissance among roots musicians today (as evidenced by the popularity of Steve's instructional DVD for Homespun Tapes). Starting with basic fingerings and picking techniques, including the all-important tremolo stroke, Steve will demonstrate handy licks and economical accompaniment devices for the jamming musician, along with a couple of song themes that exemplify the blues mandolin sound. (Beginner to intermediate. Some tab supplied). Portable sound recorders suggested. No video please.
