WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE: SJFF 2007

MOHAI
Seattle, WA

MOHAI: SATURDAY MARCH 24, 10:00 PM
WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE (Eize Makom Nifla)
Director: Eyal Halfon
Israel 2005, 104 min, 35mm; Hebrew w/subtitles
**Mature Content: nudity, violence, language

Eyal Halfon's gritty film begins with a disorienting escape from border patrols by Jana (played with timid grace by Evelyn Kaplun, Yana's FriendS, SJFF 2000 & Syrian Bride, SJFF 2006) and other Russian women being smuggled into Israel.  Winner of Israel's Academy Award for Best Picture (2005) and Israel's official submission to the 2006 Oscars, What a Wonderful Place is both harrowing character study and expose of illegal workers in the Holy Land.
