BOSTON8BIT's Active Knowledge is coming to town to join forces with The Tank, minusbaby and Zen Albatross for a blowout Pulsewave event!
Visual activity will be provided by MIKE GOODMAN for each act.
This is one Pulsewave that you should have already traveled into the future for, and then returned to enjoy it all over again.

A collective of Boston chipmusic artists that have been incubating the relatively new scene in their city since Summer of 2009, with the goal of connecting with others all over the country/planet to introduce new ears to the bleeps and glitches of the old digital age.

Active Knowledge is the concept of maximizing use of the brain for the mind, instead of as a boring storage medium. Firing notes through an original Nintendo Entertainment System, Active Knowledge (Chris Mahoney) mixes vintage video game sounds with synchronized glitchy, spastic visuals. The idea is unadulterated fun, with a focus on the unadult. Active Knowledge's debut album "Pyramid Neon" and "Time is not Permanent EP" is available to download for free on his website.

Long-time 8bitpeoples member, minusbaby, born Richard Alexander Caraballo in New York City, trades in counterpoint, subtle dissonances and surprises. While it may be impossible to predict exactly what will happen at each performance, one constant can be expected: a forceful, equatorial beat. Each familiar song is given new variation while the center holds it down with a bassy bottom end to make anything bump and bounce that hasn't been tied down, exploding the very meaning of 8-bit orchestration. Since 1999, he has come to prominence in the chip music scene with a foundation in New York City and the 8bitpeoples. He has performed extensively, having been featured in London's DMZ Media Arts Festival, the International Chiptune Resistance, FMEL (Festival de Msica Electrnica Latina) in Chicago,Blip Festival 2007, 2008 and 2009, multiple Pulsewave nights and Philadelphia's only monthly chip music event, 8static.

Zen+Albatross Brooklyn-based blogger and chiptune artist Joshua Seth Kopstein performs under the alias Zen Albatross, using homebrew software and ancient spirit magicks to craft introspective elegies and infectious dance beats for the Nintendo Game Boy. It is recommended that his music be heard while aboard a steam-powered airship, but in the event that this setting is somehow unavailable, land-based listening is a perfectly acceptable alternative.
