John Santos Sextet
Five-time Grammy nominee, John Santos, is a highly respected band leader, composer, recording artist, producer and educator in the Bay Area since the mid 1970s. John Santos - congas, percussion, Saul Sierra - bass, Marco Diaz - piano, John Calloway - flute, percussion, Melecio Magdaluyo - saxes, David Flores - drumset // His stellar Sextet sheds light on the historical and cultural significance of Latin Jazz. Their repertoire consists of original compositions and exciting original arrangements of classics from Latin America and the US. Their most recent CD, Perspectiva Fragmentada, on John's Machete Records label, was selected as one of the five top Latin Jazz CDs of 2008 by New York's All About Jazz magazine, and was a nominee for a 2009 Cubadisco award, equivalent to the Cuban Grammys.
