The Tannahill Weavers
The one-time trailblazers in bringing Scottish music to the world, the Tannies, as they are affectionately called, are now firmly established as among the best Scotland has ever had to offer on the concert stage. The Tannies have released 17 popular and critically acclaimed albums featuring their trademark repertoire of reflective ballads and foot-stomping jigs and reels, powerfully played on Highland pipes, Scottish small pipes, fiddle, dlute, whistles, guitar, bouzouki and bodhran. For over 30 years the Tannies have been cheered by audiences around the globe and garnered rave reviews, such as from the Winnipeg Free Press which wrote, 'The Tannahill Weavers - properly harnessed - could probably power a city for a year on the strength of last night's concert alone. The nmusic may be old time Celtic, but the drive and enthusiasm are akin to straight ahead rock and roll,' and Mojo Magazine noted 'world class musicians with passion and a healthy sense of fun, keeping alive and making accessible the very heart of the tradition itself.'
