| Description |
 The Blacksmith and the Carpenter
Directed by Chris Redish
Synopsis: Ishmael, a clueless, womanizing blacksmith, has no idea who his neighbor Jesus, the carpenter, really is. When Ishmael realizes he has agreed to make the nails for Jesus' cross, he must find a way out of his predicament.
About the project: The Kodak 35mm Film Project is designed to give students the opportunity to produce short films of studio quality. By donating the film, and persuading other industry suppliers to donate everything from cameras and cranes to a Dolby Digital sound mix, Kodak makes it possible for a students to make a short with a budget equivalent to $50,000-$70,000.
In 2006, for the first time, Kodak selected 3 Arizona schools to take part, along with 6 schools in California. 2006 also marked the first time a Community College was chosen to be part of the project.
That honor fell to Scottsdale Community College, where the faculty put together a team of professional mentors to guide the students through the process. Together, a team of faculty and mentors selected the student-written script to be produced. Next, they selected the director and producer, who chose their own crew for the production. All department heads, and as many other crew as possible, had to be students.
With such a solid foundation, the casting team were able to assemble a cast that included some well-known Hollywood faces: Robert Picardo (the holographic doctor on Star Trek:Voyager), Tony Curtis (yes, THE Tony Curtis), Liz Sheridan (Jerry's mom on the sitcom Seinfeld), and Hunter Gomez (Family Guy and National Treasure).
With a crew of around 30, a cast of a similar number, and the backing of Kodak, the team from SCC showed that Arizona film-makers can produce work that rivals the quality of cinema produced anywhere in the world.
