ASHA - An Evening of Hope
Chicago's critically acclaimed Natya Dance Theatre comes together with Schaumburg-based Lotus Rising to offer an evening of performance and discussion bringing awareness and social change on domestic violence and child abduction issues.
Natya Dance Theatre Dancers will present Asha - An Evening of Hope, presenting excerpts of Ahimsa - Nonviolence, and other award-winning production work. The evening's works bring the art of Bharata Natyam alive at the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law's Auditorium.
Lotus Rising Foundation will also be releasing a working draft of the "Intimidation via Litigation" power and control wheel, and inviting members of the legal, business, and social/public service community to join forces and create a think tank as to how to transform the current system, which is bankrupting, destabilizing, and destroying families, thereby eroding the fabric of our society. Lotus Rising Creative offers pathways to transcending oppression and violence.
Founded in 1974, Natya Dance Theatre is one of the country's premiere Bharata Natyam dance companies and schools. The Natya Company has performed with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, at New York's prestigious World Music Institute, and at Chicago's Harris Theater, among other leading venues. NDT's mission is to present the art of Bharata Natyam and bring about social change through their artistic work.
