Quill of the Soul
Inspired by Elie Wiesel's "Melodies of My Childhood," and the work of Israeli composer Andre Hajdu, Matti Kovler presents an evening that will take the Hasidic Niggun (or "chant") as its point of departure. Incorporating instrumental music, song, and media, this performance will explore surprising parallels between Nigguns and other world incantations. The diversity of the program  and of the cast  will mirror the variety of faiths and ethnicities  from Hindu to Sufi to Buddhist  that share similar approaches to sacred song.

Supported by the Jewish Cultural Endowment, BUCH and BU Arts., the program features a multi-national ensemble of 12 musicians, student choir, video projections and storytelling.

Featured performers include Hankus Netsky, Eden McAdam-Somer, Deepti Navaratna, Parham Haghighi, Yair Harel, and cellist Yonatan Niv.

The program is presented in partnership by the Boston Jewish Music Festival and the Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies at Boston University.
