David with David & Goliath, a short - Chandler
The focus is narrow, but this internationally acclaimed film allows us a refreshingly engaging look at some of life's largest questions.  No more so than for the young, thrown together in a conflicting Melting Pot world.  Yoav, Jewish, and David, Muslim, meet in a city environment of religious tensions and suspicions, and ask themselves two enduring questions: "How can I fit in?" and "Can we be friends?"  For the two wonderful, non-professional young actors, working together on screen was an answer to those questions. Off screen they were just two boys playing, joking around and being buddies.  Watching this film is important for all ages. How will you react?

"Message of open-mindedness and tolerance."  Kevin Laforest, Montreal Hour

"The chemistry between Mishal and Shtaynberger is muted but genuine, and the boys, although not trained actors, are both charming."  George Robinson, The Jewish Week

2011 Ecumenical Prize-Montreal World Film Festival

Guest Speaker:
Rabbi Darren Kleinberg is the Founding Director and lead educator of Valley Beit Midrash (VBM), a pluralistic, collaborative, adult education institute serving the Greater Phoenix area. Due to Rabbi Kleinberg's creativity and innovation, he was selected to be a member of the first cohort of Synagogue 3000 fellows as well as the Schusterman Foundation's Kivun fellowship. Rabbi Kleinberg has been published widely in local and national publications and has appeared on television and radio.

Preceded by:

David & Goliath, a short.

The old line is: "You can run, but you cannot hide."  In this thrilling and chilling war time tale, a Jewish resistance fighter must run and hide.  How he does both, and with the help of what savior, will grip you emotionally from start to end.
