- for 4th - 6th grade in 2015-2016 School Year
Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to complete the Museum Quest! This week you will investigate a different museum exhibit each day. Your quest will take you behind the scenes to the Geosciences collections where many ancient fossils are stored for research, exploring the surface of Mars, discovering the weird and wonderful wildlife of New Mexico, and touring the "Birds of Paradise: Amazing Avian Evolution," a National Geographic Traveling Exhibition. Hands-on activities, a Planetarium show, and walking field trips are all a part of this new camp based in the museum. Each session is limited to 16 participants and is taught by one adult instructor and one aide. A second adult instructor will join the walking field trips.
Aftercare will be available from 3:30-5:00pm for an additional fee of $50 per week. Payment for aftercare must be paid by cash or check on the first day of camp at 8:00am. Enroll in person at NMMNH&S, do contact Heather McCurdy at Heather.MacCurdy@state.nm.us to reserve a spot. Sign-up for aftercare is on the first day of camp at 8:00am only.
YOU NEED TO KNOW These classes are scheduled rain or shine. The minimum number of participants for a class is 6. Please note that the Museum staff (including instructors, aides and all other staff) cannot take responsibility for dispensing prescription or over-the-counter medications. Campers are required to provide their own lunch for full-day programs and a snack and drink for half-day programs. Field trips require a day-pack with lunch, water bottle, hat and sunscreen as well as any other necessary items noted in the registration confirmation letter. The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of 6 participants. Full refund will be given if the session is canceled by the Museum due to low enrollment.
