Tom Turner & Slow Burn
The Collingwood Arts Center welcomes Tom Turner & Slow Burn to the Lois M. Nelson theatre stage to kick off our Blues and R&B concert series.
Slow Burn, started as a local blues project in the Toledo, Ohio area.  It soon grew to a 6 piece band with the addition of the horn section.  The band adopted material to break into the blues scene, and play at bars and cafe's.  They were featured in the Memphis International Blues Competition and made it to the finals in Toledo.  Slow Burn will light up a room with their mixture of blues, soul, swing, and funk.
Tom Turner's vocal style and song writing has carried him across the U.S. and most of Canada, spanning a career of nearly 30 years.  He has respectfully earned opening spots before many national and international recording artists, including the likes of Eric Burdon, Leon Russell, Micheal McDonald, Tower of Power, Spyro Gyra, Bo Diddley, War, Edgar Winter, Richie Havens, and the list goes on.  Although Tom has covered many diverse genres of music, his distinctive phrasing and soulful delivery can come from only one place, "The Blues."  Slow Burn provides the perfect vehicle for his current original works and gives audiences the opportunity to hear Tom in his element - "Music with soul power."
