Nearly a decade after folk-rock duo Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion put out their first album together, the husband-and-wife pair crystallized their signature acoustic pop sound with their 3rd album, 2013's Wassaic Way. Produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy and Patrick Sansone, Wassaic Way finds Guthrie and Irion pushing beyond folk with sunny, tambourine-fueled hooks, alternating with darker lush soundscapes. The stand-out element of all the music Sarah Lee and Johnny have created during their 13 year partnership is simply perfect harmony singing--like one is cake and the other icing. Sarah Lee is the daughter of Arlo Guthrie, and the granddaughter of Woody Guthrie.
