"Gabriel Kahane Is a One-Man Cultural Cuisinart" - New York Times

Composer by day and singer-songwriter by night, Gabriel Kahane has done it all. He has released four solo albums, written large-scale orchestral works, piano sonatas, musicals, string quartets, and song cycles, and has collaborated with artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Chris Thile, Punch Brothers, and Paul Simon. As a songwriter, Kahane mixes his classical background with modern folk-pop for an eclectic sound that is entirely his own.

Kahane's most recent release, Book of Travelers, is an unflinching examination of the complex and often troubled history of the United States. The album came into being after Kahane embarked on a cross-country train trip following the 2016 Presidential election. He spoke to dozens of strangers in an attempt to better understand his country and fellow citizens. The result is a stunning portrait of the world that we live in as well as a prayer for empathy and reconciliation.
