Ceremony of Carols at Town Hall: Britten Centenary Christmas
2013 marks 100 years since the birth of Benjamin Britten, and our celebration of his centenary year concludes with a trio of gorgeous holiday works. His beloved classic A Ceremony of Carols is paired with his youthful choral tour-de-force, A Boy was Born. Also included is Conrad Susa's delightful Carols and Lullabies - Christmas in the Southwest. You may be wondering: what is a suite of Spanish-language Christmas carols with marimba and guitar doing on a Britten program? It all makes perfect sense: Susa created this work specifically as a colorful companion piece to Britten's Ceremony of Carols!
Seattle Pro Musica Christmas concerts have sold out for three years running, and elicited glowing reviews: "Seattle Pro Musica's annual Christmas concert is a gourmet event for music lovers."
