Portland Chamber Music Festival: Barber, Laurie San Martin and Brahms
We open this evening's concert with our vote for the most beautiful 20th Century woodwind quintet -- Samuel Barber's evocative "Summer Music." PCMF Resident Composer Laurie San Martin of the University of California at Davis faculty also joins us to introduce her "Circus Maximus," performed tonight by the Hikari Trio (violinist Jennifer Elowitch, cellist Elizabeth Anderson, and pianist Yuri Funahashi). The program concludes with a performance of the Brahms Piano Quintet featuring the winner of our 2013 Young Artist Apprentice Auditions.
The Portland Chamber Music Festival Young Artist Apprentice program is supported by a generous grant from the Morton-Kelly Charitable Trust.
