Rev. Osagyefo Uhuru Sekou Osagyefo (oh-sah-GEE-fo) Uhuru (ooh-WHO-roo) Sekou (SAY-koo)
Noted activist, theologian, author, documentary filmmaker, and musician, Reverend Osagyefo Sekou was born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in the rural Arkansas Delta. Rev. Sekou's music is an unique combination of North Mississippi Hill Country Music, Arkansas Delta Blues, Memphis Soul and Pentecostal steel guitar. In May 2017, he released "In Times Like These produced the six-time Grammy nominated North Mississippi Allstars. AFROPUNK heralded the deep bone-marrow-level conviction of his first album, The Revolution Has Come. The single, We Comin'--was named the new anthem for the modern Civil Rights movement by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. A consummate entertainer, Paste Studio celebrated his barn-burning performance saying: "Rev. Sekou delivers the spiritual performance we need now."
"With optimum protest music there is an urgency, immediacy and the acceptance of responsibility. Consider the Neil Young-written Ohio: "We're finally on our own gotta get down to it." Or consider Rev. Osagyefo Uhuru Sekou, the American poet, pastor and renaissance theologian. "In times like this, ain't no one going to save us," he asserts on the title track to his debut album In Times Like These. "We're the ones we've been waiting for." Globe and Mail
DIMPKER BROTHERS This Folk rock duo from Sweden is much more than a band, they are actually brothers which leads to a sixth sense tightness to their musical dynamics and beautiful, well honed vocal arrangements. The live show has been reviewed as "medicine for the soul" which is testimony to the warm and powerful performances of this talented young band. The Dimpker brothers did not choose music, it chose them. The brothers have been performing most of their lives.
They have recently released their debut single, "Days of Wonder" recorded with their musical hero, Joshua James, in American Fork, Utah. The song blends bittersweet Scandinavian harmonies with the soul of Americana. "If you're allowed to have favourites among your own offspring, this is ours" say Martin and Adam Dimpker of the song. Dimpker brothers have been awarded any musical prizes in Sweden and have performed at SXSW, The Great Escape and will be performing at festivals in the UK and Canada in the summer of 2018, both as Dimpker Brothers and as the core backing band to US artist, activist, author Rev. Sekou
