Inspired by Bill Monroe, Sam Bush and Del McCoury, along with jazz greats Bill Evans and composer Danny Elfman, Old Salt Union from Belleville, IL boasts a unique and broad genetic make-up. The five members explore the jazz and blues roots of bluegrass in a mature and refreshing manner. Catchy hooks, dramatic chord progressions, thoughtful arrangements and tons of energy have made them front runners in the new generation of string music. In the past year theyve appeared at Bluegrass Underground, Music City Roots, John Hartford Memorial Festival, ROMP, Stagecoach, Freshgrass, and Yonder Mountain String Bands Harvest Festival, and just once before at Caffe Lena!

Opener Chris Kasper's new album, "O, the Fool" features his signature simple song style, this time inspired by Delta blues, folk music, and the string arrangements of Hollywood film scores.
