. DAN LAVOIE:
Born & raised in Pawling, Dan Lavoie returns to the Towne Crier Cafe! His style brings a fresh new sound to the table with influences of rock, jazz, classical, folk, blues and funk jam messed together to create what many have called traveling music. His music reflects personal life experiences, through heartache, pain, love and hope for a better future. After the success of his solo instrumental album, "Little Noodles," Dan made #7 on Hudson Valley's TOP TEN Best Concerts with last year's appearance at the Towne Crier Cafe. Lavoie is excited about the attention his recent album, To The Waters Edge, will bring him, along with his upcoming extensive tour this year!
Although he is a young, up-and-coming singer-songwriter, Jake Klar sings and writes with an old soul. Based out of Northampton, MA, he released his debut EP in April 2012, but has been playing around the country for the past few years, particularly in the northeast and Texas. He was a finalist at the 2012 CT Folk Festival Songwriting Competition and has supported acts like Iris Dement and Toby Walker. As a performer, Jake is natural and genuine. Common responses from audiences have been "powerful" and "moving." As a songwriter and musician he has been influenced by everything. However, folk, country, americana, blues, R&B, soul and old time music are his strongest influences. To pick a few artists from his well of learning... Roscoe Holcomb, Townes Van Zandt, The Carter Family, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Roger Miller.
