Theater Pipe Organ Concert Featuring Guest Organist Father Andrew Rogers
A resident of Fenton, Michigan, Father Andrew Rogers is Pastor of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Dearborn. He began his musical studies on the accordian at age 7, winning local and national competitions playing transcriptions of classical orchestral music. He later appeared in the orchestra of Broadway Productions at Michigan State University where he holds his degree, with honors, in Psychology. He also has a Barton/Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ installed in his home. During his religious studies, he studied theatre organ technique with the late Father Jim Miller and then augmented his studies with Dr. Marilyn Mason at the University of Michigan. He accompanied Father Jim Miller on his last tour of Australia appearing in joint concerts and solo engagements. He also works full time in a travel agency and is a staff organist at Detroit's Fox Theatre. He is a member of the Global Harmony Band, and is now a Director of the Foundation for Global Harmony.
Father Andrew Rogers takes charge of the console of the Collingwood Arts Center's 2/6 Link/Bennett Theatre Organ for a lively and delightful afternoon of popular and light classical music. The audience is assured a happy afternoon with this delightful personality and talented theatre organist! On the program will be a staple of 1920's movie theatres: a two-reel silent comedy--we'll announce the title soon!
