06/22 Fri 8:30 An Evening With WILLIE NILE and JAMES MADDOCK $30 +$2 processing

"It's a good night when Levon's in the house. God bless u Lee."

"What surprises me is how little has changed since the beginning. My passion hasn't diminished one bit. The fire is still blazing inside of me." -Willie Nile
Twenty-five years after his much-heralded debut, Willie Nile's astonishing re-emergence with "Streets of New York" is witness of Willie's youthful, unflagging energy. U2's Bono summed the album up in one joyous burst: "Great Album!" He's never sounded more committed to the themes he's tackled. Writing in The NY Times, the great rock critic Robert Palmer called him "one of the most gifted singer-songwriters to emerge from the New York scene in years." Lucinda Williams has said of him, "Willie Nile is a great artist. If there was any justice in this world, I'd be opening up for him instead of him for me." Lou Reed hailed Streets of NY as "a great album," while Graham Parker called it "a real gem -- stirring melodies, passionate vocals, intriguing lyrics -- every track a winner." Ian Hunter said, simply, "Well done!"

In little over a year, James Maddock has gone from "Whatever happened to James Maddock?" to "How can we live without the music of James Maddock?" With the release of Wake Up and Dream, Maddock firmly establishes himself as one of the truly gifted performing songwriters on the American landscape. As a transplanted Briton rooted on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Maddock effortlessly translates the aspirations and longing of his ever growing legion of followers into song.

First recognized in the U.S as the front-man for the band Wood (Songs From Stamford Hill), Maddock has steadily gained traction in the Northeast with his infectious live performances and accessible touch with his fans. A top 50 chart position at non-comm radio in 2010 for Sunrise On Avenue C leaves Maddock poised to break through to a mainstream audience.
