Music from the Fringe: Violin Masterpieces performed by Rita Lammers
The Collingwood Arts Center has always catered to artists on the Fringe. Their latest event offers a mixture of the classical combined with adventurous multimedia programming. Music from the Fringe: Violin Masterpieces features solo and duo works performed by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra's own Rita Lammers, with Steinway Artist Sergio Ruiz on piano. Lammers is set to grace the stage of the CAC'S historic Lois M. Nelson Theatre on Friday, November 4th at 7pm.

The highly anticipated concert marks the debut of Lammers' $7@7 series.

"Rita Lammers is a Canadian violinist with a rich and diverse classical music background. As Associate Principal 2nd Violin of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra since 2006, Rita participated in the orchestra's recent success at Carnegie Hall's Spring for Music series, as well as performing numerous solo and chamber music concerts each season."

"Selected for fellowships at Tanglewood, New World Symphony, National Orchestral Institute, Schleswig-Holstein and Verbier Festivals, Rita was loaned a Stradivarius as a member of the Nightingale String Quartet. Successfully completing 3 violin performance degrees with honors (Rice University, Indiana University, and Royal Conservatory of Music-Toronto), Rita was chosen to represent Canada as a Rotary Youth Exchange ambassador to South Africa. Rita has performed in many of the world's great concert halls (Musikverein, Concertgebouw, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Teatro Colon, Berlin Philharmonie, Théâtre de Champs Elysées, and Chicago Orchestra Hall), and performed under the esteemed batons of James Levine, Yuri Temirkanov, Kurt Masur, Michael Tilson Thomas, Marin Alsop, Herbert Blomstedt, Paavo Järvi, Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano and Wolfgang Sawallisch."
