The Mark Tipton Quartet
Trumpeter and Composer Mark Tipton leads his high-energy, virtuosic Jazz Quartet in an evening of Classic Jazz Standards and Imaginative Original Compositions.  Mark teaches Trumpet and Jazz at Colby College and the Portland Conservatory of Music, and directs the 7-piece Chamber Ensemble Les Sorciers Perdus.  He has performed with the likes of Bobby McFerrin, Quincy Jones, and Vassar Clements, and holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Mannes College of Music (NYC).  Joining him will be the dynamic Jazz Guitarist Ryan Blotnick, who was recently called, "a vital contemporary voice," by Time Out New York, and who has shared the stage with the likes of Jeff Williams and Lee Konitz.  Bassist and composer Chris Sprague is a vital member of the Portland Jazz Scene, and has performed over a hundred concerts with Mark in the past three years.  Phil McGowan is a consummate Jazz Drummer and Chamber Percussionist who currently resides in Boston, MA.  Mark has led a Jazz Quartet for four years, touring throughout the Northeast and performing as far away as Los Angeles, CA.
