The Massry Center for the Arts serves as the venue for the education and enjoyment of art and music at The College of Saint Rose. The magnitude of the 47,000 square foot Massry Center, located prominently on Madison Avenue, reaches far beyond the boundaries of the College's Art and Music Departments.
The building was designed to utilize state-of-the-art green technologies and was awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standard. It includes the 5,000 square foot, 400-seat Katherine McManus Picotte Recital Hall, the 2,200 square foot Esther Massry Art Gallery, an 80-seat choral rehearsal room, a 100-seat instrument rehearsal room, teaching studios, percussion studios, practice rooms and classrooms.
Yet, the Massry Center for the Arts is more than a building. It is a hub of music and arts activities and a synthesis of performers, scholars, composers, researchers, teachers, students and the communities that gather to listen, perform, create, discuss and energize through the magic of the arts. Students participate in internships and service learning as well as presentations, exhibits and performances. The Massry Center for the Arts supports and strengthens these activities. We know that our role is not only to provide a quality education to the future workforce, but to also be a venue of art and enrichment for the enjoyment of the surrounding community and beyond.
