INDISTAGE PRESENTS THE WEST COAST PREMIERE OF
30 DAYS IN SEPTEMBER
Written by Mahesh Dattani
Directed by Rooben Morgan
A Limited San Francisco Engagement starting:
Thursday, July 23rd to August 1, 2010 @ OFF MARKET THEATRE, 965 Mission Street, San Francisco
Mala's childhood horrors are hardly behind her; well alive in the dark shadows of her family secrets, they continue to live in her hateful attachment to her mother. Unexpectedly comes along Deepak, with a hopeful promise to change everything with love, but he doesn't know that he has only scratched the surface. This family's secrets go far deeper than anyone imagined
IndiStage is proud to present the West Coast Premiere of Mahesh Dattani's highly controversial 30 DAYS IN SEPTEMBER opening July 23rd 2010. Mahesh Dattani, an internationally accomplished playwright, is also a renowned screenwriter, filmmaker and stage director. A noted winner of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award in 1998, Dattani has directed and scripted critically acclaimed films like Mango Souffle and Morning Raga. The director, Rooben Morgan (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Spoon River Anthology, The Clown, Pistachios and Whipped Cream), was last seen in a lead role in David Lindsay-Abair's Pulitzer-Prize winning The Rabbit Hole. He returns to directing with a bold and provocative take on 30 DAYS IN SEPTEMBER. The cast includes the seasoned and talented Rashmi Rustagi (member of Actor's Equity Association) who has been in several films, plays, commercials, and TV shows, including TRAUMA and CROSSING BOUNDARIES. Mala is deftly played by Nandini Minocha, a veteran actress who garnered the Best Actress Award at the Marin Fringe Festival in 2009 and 2010 (2nd place).
30 DAYS IN SEPTEMBER is a play that takes an intricate and in-depth look into an Indian family that is both typical and atypical at the same time. It follows the painful journey of Mala, who after years of abuse and dysfunctional relationships meets Deepak, a man who refuses to stop loving her. But with his love comes a shattering reckoning and unearthing of darker, deeper secrets no one is ready for. With complex characters and a shocking ending that only Dattani can create, 30 DAYS IN SEPTEMBER promises an experience that will stay with you long after the performance.
This play is a must see!!!
