Class: Writing The Ten-Minute Play
Class meets for six sessions on Tuesday evenings at Lakeshore Players, from 7-9 p.m.
This class is designed for people of all ages who have had little or no creative writing experience. For the beginning playwright, short plays are the best way to learn the craft. You can experiment with the elements of drama -- good storytelling, character, dialog, forward action, conflict, dramatic structure, and arcs -- on a small scale. These concepts can later be applied to longer dramatic works. In-class writing exercises, reading and discussion of 10-minute plays, and marketing your play for a reading or production are also included. Students will complete a 10-minute play by the end of the last class.
INSTRUCTOR: Cass Erickson is a published playwright whose works have won several awards. She is a member of the Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis.
