The seeds of Bent Art were planted in August of 2000 by Seattle based writer and performer Tara Hardy when she began teaching writing classes for LGBTIQ people in her own living room. In a few short years, the collective formed by those early student and volunteer teachers transformed into the non-profit organization known as Bent Arts, a writing institute with a Mission to promote and encourage written and spoken word among LGBTIQ people and within our communities. Bent Arts is the only writing school of its kind in the nation.
