Sympho SponsorsUnited States
Sympho is committed to revitalizing the classical music concert experience for a modern audience, thereby providing an alternative to the traditional concert hall experience. At a time when the audience for classical music performances continues to dwindle, especially among those under 40 years of age (the "iPod" generation), Sympho has created a new performance concept, more accessible and visceral, that will enrich the musical experience, educate audiences, and connect them to the vitality of the music itself. The success of this concept was evident with the reception of our REWIND concert production, which had its premiere in 2006 in New York City. According to The New York Times, the concert "refits the classical experience for a new century". We couldn't have hoped for a better endorsement than that.
We recognize that our target audience grew up with movies, television, DVDs, interactive video, rock concerts and advertising. They are used to high production values and to continuous stimuli and entertainment. To this audience, the sacred aura of the traditional classical music concert hall performance is often a barrier denying access to the vitality of the music itself.
Our goal is not only to bring audiences back to the concert hall, but also to change the live experience itself by presenting transformational classical music events in nontraditional settings that make use of imaginative musical programming and theatrical techniques, first in the New York City area, then in select cities and with other orchestras across the United States, and finally in major markets around the world.
Classical music is an emotional journey through sound and sensation, a living, breathing art form that can make a powerful and sustained impact on audiences. Symphos first concert, REWIND, brought new energy into the classical music experience, and into the lives of people wanting more. Now we are bringing our concerts to the nation, with recent performances in San Francisco and Des Moines. We unveiled our second concert experience, TRACES, to rave reviews in March 2008, and our new FLECTION concert premiered in May 2009 in New York City.
