Accion Latina

Accion Latina is a non-profit, San Francisco-based organization founded in 1987 to promote social change and cultural pride in the Latino community. We produce a bilingual newspaper, an annual Latino music festival, and coordinate a journalism project for community youth.

The Encuentro del Canto Popular is an annual concert that celebrates and promotes nueva cancin, Latin American music with a social justice message. The Encuentro began in 1982 as a fundraiser for El Tecolote Newspaper. Over the years the Encuentro has brought many of the world's foremost composers and musicians of nueva cancin to the San Francisco Bay Area. 28th Annual Encuentro, December 4 and 5, 2009. 8-11pm
