President Horn
President Horn, the latest work by Jeffrey Walker, is a new political tragedy in blank verse. The format gives the work a distinctly Shakespearian tone, but works with a contemporary lexicon and subject matters making it accessible to the informed citizens of today.
In a distant land, President for Life Robert Horn is in the waning days of his term and the good people are growing restless. As Robert laments a life spent as oppressor rather than champion of the people his citizens are gathering beyond the gate to his compound demanding change, though what change they want is unclear.
Enter Bobby, the estranged son of the president who finds himself squatting in a hovel with his fiancée Sarah. With a knack for leadership and a deep seeded passion, Bobby, joins the protest and quickly rises through the ranks to lead the anarchy. With Bobby's true heart and Robert's guilt ridden conscience the rebels and the establishment look to be on a path towards reconciliation. However, Michelle, the heir apparent and Bobby's twin sister is determined to take power and has no morals to compromise in her quest to retain power.
