Books & Bubblies with El Bibliobandido
FUNDRAISER: Books & Bubblies with El Bibliobandido June 26th, 2013 (6:30-8:30 pm) at the Centre for Social Innovation Starrett-Lehigh Building, 601 W. 26th St., 3rd Floor NYC RSVP $25 suggested contribution
El Bibliobandido is a story-hungry bandit roving the jungles of northern Honduras, where he terrorizes little kids until they write and offer stories to nourish his insatiable appetite. Now the masked marauder is making moves on the international scene, with recent sightings in the Big Apple!
Help kick-off this summer's story-spree and join BB (if you dare!) on June 26th for an evening of books, bites, and bubblies at REV-'s new home, the Centre for Social Innovation.
RSVP with a suggested contribution of $25 + Give $100, $250, or more and help sustain our story-hungry bandit! If you can't make it to the party, you can still join the BB fan club by making a contribution today.
Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a living legend! With your participation, El Bibliobandido can continue to spark the public imagination and accelerate social change.
All proceeds will support "El Bibliobandido Bites the Big Apple!", REV-'s free media arts and professional development summer program for teens from underserved communities in NYC, as well as our ongoing Bibliobandido collaboration with communities in Honduras.
ABOUT THE PROJECT El Bibliobandido began in 2010 as a public art + literacy project conceived by REV- in collaboration with the community of El Pital, Honduras as a means to redress the region's 80% illiteracy rate. Inducing terror, laughter and tears in los niños (and more than a few adults) across northern Honduras, the project now involves 19 partnering schools and 500 youth in sharing book-making and story-writing skills.
After making a NYC debut last summer at the Studio Museum of Harlem, El Bibliobandido returns to the big city in REV-'s summer multimedia intensive, where teens will make their own books to bait El Bibliobandido, collaboratively produce a short film documenting his Empire State escapades, and create a shareable bookmaking and creative-writing curriculum. Your support is vital and will ensure that we can provide student stipends, lunch, and other program essentials.
