Judith Sloan's YO MISS! in BELFAST Benefit for RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROJECT AUGUST 14
Where human rights meets Hip Hop, meets the power of women and girls. Fusing the art of theatre, poetry, and music, YO MISS! is a sometimes funny, sometimes sad, always truth-telling show about immigrant/refugee teenagers and incarcerated youth grappling with the cataclysmic events that shaped them. Using midi-controllers and an original musical score to accompany her compelling performance, Judith Sloan remixes her own traumatic experiences with those of her students and transforms into a multitude of characters from age 14 to 80.
About Restorative Justice Project:
The Restorative Justice Project promotes fundamental change in the justice system and the schools, with restorative services that help offenders take accountability, provide support and healing for the victim, and build community connections that bring justice to all. Working within Prosecutorial District Six, comprised of Waldo, Knox, Sagadahoc & Lincoln counties, RJP integrates the restorative approach into schools, juvenile courts and the Maine Coastal Regional Re-entry Center in Belfast, often with the help of trained volunteer mentors.
