Atlas Obscura: An Explorer's Guide to the World's Hidden Wonders

If you've never heard of Atlas Obscura or the Obscura Society, mega-fans Neil Gaiman, Mary Roach, Lena Dunham, and Guillermo Del Toro will be happy to tell you what you're missing.

And you don't have to stay out of the loop for long. Join us for an evening of exploration into the strangest and most curious places in the world.  Inspiring equal parts wonder and wanderlust, the Obscura Society revels in the weird, the unexpected, the overlooked, the hidden, and the mysterious - the dazzling glowworm caves in New Zealand; the M.C. Escher-like stepwells in India; the Baby Jumping Festival in Spain; and more.

In an age where some people believe everything has already been explored and there is nothing new to be found, celebrate a different way of looking at the world.

Who wants to be a tourist, when you can be an explorer?  That's what we thought. We'll see you soon.

Mary Roach is a funny and fascinating writer who first arrived in San Francisco in the early 1980s. She went on to write seven hugely popular science books includingStiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers,Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex, Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void,Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal, and most recently Grunt: The Curious Science of Humans at War.
