The Green Gala
The Green Gala Minneapolis, MN
The 2010 Green Gala is the third annual fundraiser for the Bottineau Neighborhood Association. Event proceeds are used to support the organization's annual Earth Day Watershed Clean Up and Education Event.
The Gala is a full blown fashion show featuring models of all ages from the community wearing clothing fashions from local thrift stores and reuse shops (e.g. Eastside Thrift Store and Tatters to name two). Local clothing designers also get into the action and provide some of their one-of-a-kind fashions (can you say caution tape dress?). Other socially responsible organizations are involved, like Global Mamas, a fair trade organization that works with women of Africa to become economically self sufficient, and Naturally Bamboo, who produce and sell clothing made from renewable bamboo fiber.
Join emcees Steph and Herbach in cheering on your neighbors as they strut their stuff. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres and drink for all ages and live jazz from the Greg Schafer Trio (GST). Many of the participating stores and designers will have clothing and other times for sale. To top it off, there will be a silent auction.
Event tickets are $20. Children 12 and under get in free.
