Bay Area Storytelling Festival
Join us for a weekend of outdoor concerts of oral storytelling, and treat your imagination to the power and elegance of the well-told story.
Outstanding performers from around the world visit the Bay Area each Spring to bring to life tales old and new in a wide range of styles and genres. From folk tales to family stories, modern poetry-slam style spoken word to classic stories from many cultures. Featuring: Willy Claflin (San Francisco), Diane Ferlatte (Oakland), Ben Haggarty (UK), Syd Lieberman (Illinois), Connie Regan-Blake (North Carolina), and Keolaha (Hawaii).
PLUS daily story swaps (your chance to get in on the act), a bargain Kids Concert (Sunday afternoon), great musical treats throughout, and special 25th Anniversary celebrations and deals! NOTE: A well-told story is a treat for all ages. Our festival is recommended for ages 9 to 99.
OFF-SITE WORKSHOP Friday May 21 12 noon - 3 pm Ben Haggerty, "Master & Daemon: Bringing Frankenstein's Monster to Life" Pre-registration required. $10 off if you purchase Whole Festival Pass as well. Workshop attendees will receive Oakland location and instructions by email.
