Paul Rogat Loeb: Conviction over Cynicism
From the Balloon Boy hoax to President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize, nearly every action, reaction, motive, and method these days is met with cynicism; even in basic social interactions, it has become our first response. But Paul Rogat Loeb challenges that pervasive perspective with a vision of hope and courage gleaned from 30 years of studying social involvement and the ordinary citizens who make their voices heard and their actions count, even as they're told neither matters. Loeb, author of Soul Of a Citizen: Living With Conviction In a Cynical Time, believes community involvement and citizen activism can give us back a sense of connection and purpose. Presented by Friends Health Connection.
