Bay Area Rising's 'Evolution' Dance! Drum! Rise!
Tragically, 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. The ONE BILLION RISING global movement to stop violence against women and girls, led by Eve Ensler's non-profit V-Day, seeks to express global outrage about that fact and envision a violence-free world.
BAY AREA RISING announces this year's event, 'Evolution' Dance! Drum! Rise! a community performance ritual in Oakland, on Saturday February 14th, to raise $10,000.00, the proceeds of which will go to support local and global organizations that promote justice for women and girls.
Bay Area Rising is an all-volunteer team formed three years ago that is dedicated to the feminist principles of individual empowerment, collective action, and connecting the everyday to the sacred. Join dozens of local world-class performers combining art, spirituality, and activism rich with prose, dancing, singing and drumming in a memorable ritual dedicated to healing the violence against women and girls.
This is an only-in-Oakland event that showcases and expresses the best of our community's rich artistic, political, and spiritual resources. Join us!
