El Circo Cheapo Cabaret
Here we go! It's time for the next installment of El Circo Cheapo Cabaret--Chicago's greatest cheap date-recession-busting idea. If your New Year's Resolution is to save more money and have more fun, we'll help you do bot. Where else you can see people hang from fragile looking things from their toes, ladies shake their hips, crazy people walk on glass, and more!
What's it cost? Well, technically nothing! We aren't allowed to charge and we aren't even allowed to ask for a donation. BUT...to avoid people lining up down the block, and/or not even showing up we ask for a $10 seat deposit. Then, when you show up, if you ask Amanda, we will give you your $10 back. And if you don't ask for it back, well, that's not our fault is it? We'll just write our rent check and be happy.
NOW listen...Let me tell you about the amazing show. Aloft is welcoming interested circus artists from all over to come share our stage. The main purpose of this show us purely one of self-interest. You see, good performance footage of a circus act is awfully hard to come by, so by having a cheap show we can get a fun supportive audience in to clap and cheer as we film our acts to use for promoting ourselves to agents and clients. You never know what you'll get at the cabaret...you might see 5 silks acts from 5 different companies, or you might see a 6-year-old Russian trapeze artist, or an inner-city juggling superstar from the Chicago Youth Circus, or someone trying their act in front of an audience for the first time and asking for feedback, or someone who has done their act so many times they're going to try it blindfolded this time. Who knows, but you can't beat it!
This month will surely feature:
Elena Brocade's emotive and lovely silks act
Dizzying and terrifying aerial cradle with Aerial Storm
Perhaps a teeterboard act?
Naomi Hummel's El Circo Debut!
Douglas Grew and Dharmessh Baghat's spankin' new shaker cups act
Amazing kids from Circesteem!
Ariele Ebacher's astounding tightwire act!
Shayna Swanson and Amanda Crockett's new duo acro act!
Sarah Scanlon cracking us up on sling.
Dizzy Lizzy on trapeze.
As usual, our beloved ringmaster, Cameron Esposito!
and more! Can you believe it?
