The texts which Octavio Paz explored and helped shape his poetic thought allowed him to articulate a vision of the world and poetry that influenced both his poetic creation and his literary criticism. In this works it is possible to discern a certain unity and basic continuity, not only through his proposed model, with an obvious Romantic connection, but also the leitmotif that traverses his oeuvre: The relationship between poetry, criticism and modernity.
This program has been organized by UNAM (Chicago), the Consulado General of Mexico (Chicago), the Instituto Cervantes, Loyola University and Contratiempo.
