Wildlife Identification Network - Bat ID, handling and survey
WIN is a training and support network for aspiring ecologists. It is led by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and is run in partnership with other environmental organisations in Gloucestershire.
WIN is completely free to join and open to anyone aiming to improve their identification and survey skills. Quarterly practical events will provide species identification and wildlife survey training combined with a social activity and chance to meet other aspiring naturalists.
You do not have to be an expert to participate in WIN, however, it is aimed at people wishing to improve their skills rather than those seeking entertainment alone. WIN is particularly suited to students and young people aiming for an environmental career or people of any age interested in wildlife recording and becoming a better naturalist.
During this event you will learn about bat ecology and conservation and have the opportunity to check bat boxes with a licensed ecologist. This will involve confirming species, sex and breeding condition. Attendees will learn how to record biometrics and there will be a demonstration of bat ringing. The morning will finish with a bbq lunch.
This event is brought to you by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, Gloucestershire Naturalists' Society and the Cotswold Water Park Trust.
