Event
Jobs, Justice, Climate
Cornell University Global Labor Institute (CGLI), Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative and the New York Society for Ethical Culture (NYSEC) are hosting "Jobs, Justice, Labor" to bring together leaders from different sectors political, UN, labor, civil society and business to call attention to the global social and economic challenges and opportunities posed by climate change, and to ask those in the audience to work harder within their own constituencies to make a difference at the national level and in relation to climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December 2009. The evening will convey a powerful and heartfelt message to leaders to act swiftly and decisively to take action to reduce climate change in ways that create jobs and advance social justice. We must all share both the benefits and the responsibilities for our planet and its people and speakers will share ideas on how to do more. It will be a rare opportunity to bring hundreds of labor, environmental and youth leaders and activists together to link solutions to climate change to the issues of employment and economic opportunities.
