Soul and Cosmos: A New Way of Imagining Life in the 21st Century

Marran Theater, Lesley University
Cambridge, MA

Best selling authors, psychologist Thomas Moore (Care of the Soul and The Planets Within) and cultural historian Richard Tarnas (Passion of the Western Mind and Cosmos and Psyche:
Intimations of a New World View) will speak at Marran Theatre at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA on October 18, 2009 at 4:00 PM. The address is 47 Oxford Street between Harvard and Porter Sq.

The title of the event is: Soul and Cosmos: A New Way of Imagining Life in the 21st Century.

Moore and Tarnas are among the foremost visionaries of our time.  Responding to our current global situation, they will be leading a public discussion on how the cosmology of a culture, the way it pictures the world, reflects its underlying values and psychology. With a debt to Plato, Jung, and James Hillman among others, they both further the archetypal perspective that could help us transition into a new century.

With the expansive scope of a cultural historian Richard Tarnas has researched the role of planetary cycles in world events.  Thomas Moore has written about the re-enchantment of everyday life. In both writers cosmos meets soul.  Drawing on both ancient and postmodern insights, these two great contemporary thinkers inspire us to shift from an alienated and disenchanted world into a more ensouled and holistic one.

Tarnas and Moore will each speak for about thirty minutes and then engage in conversation with each other for forty-five minutes.  The audience will be privy to their questions and commentaries on each others work and will have the opportunity to interact with the speakers as well.

The event is free for the Lesley University community with ID and $15.00 for the general public.
