BLESSED IS THE MATCH (Wednesday)

Camera 7 Theater
Campbell, CA

Blessed is the Match
US/2009, English; Hebrew and Hungarian (both with subtitles) 85 min. Docu-drama

Hannah Senesh stands amongst the pantheon of heroes of Israel.  Recruited by the Haganah to serve in British intelligence, in 1944 she was sent on a secret mission to Hungary, where she was captured and subjected to unimaginably brutal interrogation at the hands of the Hungarian police and later the collaborationist Arrow Cross.  She refused, even unto death by firing squad, to betray her comrades or her mission.  This docudrama is the definitive story of her life and legacy.  Guest appearances by Shimon Peres and Sir Martin Gilbert, the dean of Holocaust historians, add further luster to this film. Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at seven US Jewish film festivals -, - and at the Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival.also It also won- Best Documentary at the Garden State Film Festival.

Following the film on Sunday, October 24:
