Saratoga Native American Festival
The 3rd Saratoga Native American Festival takes place on the beautiful, expansive grounds of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center at the Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, New York from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th. The focus of the event is on the Native peoples of the Northeast, past and present. There will be American Indian drum groups, dancers, singers, musicians, storytellers and craftspeople from more than a dozen different tribal nations, including the Abenaki, Cayuga, Maliseet, Miqmaq, Mohawk, Mohegan, Mohican, Narragansett, Nipmuc, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca, Tuscarora, and Wampanoag. Demonstrations of basket-making, wood and stone carving, flint knapping, silversmithing, beading, and other traditional crafts will take place throughout each day. This family-friendly event will also feature a large Children's Tent where young people can engage in hands-on activities and hear music and storytelling as well as an entire area devoted to Education Stations where people can learn more about American Indian cultures and lifeways as they were long ago and as they are today.
