100 YEARS OF YIDDISH THEATER MUSIC: FROM THE YIDDISH STAGE TO THE KLEZMER
Zalmen Mlotek is a prominent concert pianist and an internationally recognized authority on Yiddish folk and theater music, a leading figure in the Jewish theatre and concert worlds. He is the Artistic Director of The National Yiddish Theater-Folksbiene, America's only Yiddish theater. In Palo Alto Zalmen Mlotek performs with young talented singer Daniella Rabbani. The concert features lively anecdotes and explanations about the origins of the various songs that entertained and educated the Jewish audiences that flocked to the Yiddish theater in Europe and‚ America. Zalmen Mlotek tells the story of each song from a historical perspective, while Daniella Rabbani creates the theatrical and dramatic atmosphere that gives the audience an emotional perspective.
