Description
INDULGE @ THE JUPITER CELEBRATES PORTLANDS EASTSIDE CULINARY SPIRIT

Portlands Eastside Neighborhood Dining & Spirits Festival a benefit for Ecotrusts Farm to School Program

PORTLAND, Oregon (July 27,  2009)  Long known as the hub for the indie music and art community, the Jupiter Hotel can now add foodie to its list of local partnerships. Celebrating Portlands thriving culinary spirit and the growing influx of artisan distilleries, chef owned restaurants, chocolate shops and wine bars around its lower East Burnside neighborhood, the Jupiter Hotel is rolling out Indulge @ the Jupiter  the first Eastside neighborhood festival of the culinary arts on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 6 to 10 p.m.

Indulge @ the Jupiter brings together neighborhood hot spots like Le Pigeon, Beaker & Flask, Kir Wine Bar, Bakery Bar and New Deal Distillery in a community wide celebration of eating, sipping and listening to tunes with friends under the Jupiters Dream Tent. Admission is $30 and includes tastes from Eastside restaurants and bakeries, as well as sips of signature cocktails crafted onsite in the Jupiters renovated guest rooms. The proceeds from the festival will benefit Ecotrusts Farm to School Program that celebrates locally sourced food and healthier kids. Tickets are limited and advance purchase is required. Please visit www.brownpapertickets.com to reserve your tickets online.

Lower Burnside has become a dining and bar mecca, said Jupiter Hotel co-owner Tod Breslau. Since we opened the hotel 5 years ago, the neighborhood has seen dozens of amazing bistros, cafes, and nationally recognized restaurants open, as well as a series of boutique distilleries that are producing world class spirits and liqueurs. The area teems with culinary artists and a level of independent spirit that needs to be celebrated.

About Ecotrust and the Food and Farms Program

Ecotrusts mission is to inspire fresh thinking that creates social equity, economic opportunity, and environmental well-being. The Food and Farms program at Ecotrust endeavors to make sustainability the underlying value of the mainstream food system; the norm, not the exception. In close collaboration with a diverse coalition of project partners, Ecotrust works on a wide-range of initiatives to promote the Farm to School program that enables schools to feature locally sourced products in their cafeterias, incorporate nutrition-based curriculum in all academic disciplines, and provide students with experiential agriculture and food-based learning opportunities, from farm visits to gardening, cooking, composting, and recycling. Our approach is multifaceted and includes: combating obesity, hunger, and global climate change; supporting Pacific Northwest farmers and food processors, both big and small; and enhancing regional economic development and community food security. We work at the local, state, and regional levels. http://www.ecotrust.org/farmtoschool/
