| Description |
Oliver! is a musical created in the 1960's with music and lyric's by Lionel Bart, based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dicken. Oliver finds himself in an orphanage in London overseen by unscrupulous adults who treat children badly by over working them and withholding food. Oliver escapes and becomes part of a gang of street children who "work" the streets for Fagin, a crafty man who answers to Bill, a violent adult with a murderous attitude. Enter Nancy, Bill's love interest, who takes a fancy to Oliver, eventually helping him escape and be taken in by his grandfather, unbeknownst to both until a locket reveals a picture of Oliver's deceased mother.
