Red Then Productions presents HENRY V

Henry V is the culmination of an 18 year-old dream first conceived by Faires in 1991. Using Shakespeares instruction to the audience to use their imaginations to conjure the plays royal courts, horses, armies, and battlefields, Faires reconceived the drama for a solo performer playing 13 characters. Over the course of 75 minutes, with only a few household props, he leads the audience from Henry's throne across the English Channel into the French court, through a fearful war and into one of the most charming wooing scenes in Shakespeare.

Robert Faires has been part of the Austin theatre scene since 1980, working as an actor and a director on more than 50 productions on stages all across the city. His original solo piece "And Who Disguised" was judged a "Best of the Fest" selection in FronteraFest 2007. By day, he is Arts Editor for The Austin Chronicle, where he has been covering the local arts scene for 25 years, and his writing and criticism has been recognized with awards from the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies. He received the Austin Circle of Theatres Special Recognition Award for contributions to local theatre.

Henry V is directed by Catherine Weidner, Associate Professor of Classical Acting/Heightened Text at The Theatre School of DePaul University in Chicago. Ms. Weidner was the Program Director of The Shakespeare Theatre Company Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University and has directed Taming of the Shrew and Titus Andronicus for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival.

Henry V is produced by Red Then Productions in a co-production with Rude Mechs and begins its run at the Off Center on Thursday, July 2 with a champagne opening. It runs through Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 5pm through July 25.
