The Prejudice of a Certain Personality Type
"3 Girls. 15 Instruments."
Jariya is a trio of international female multi-instrumentalists/video artists who play a wide range of instruments, creating an intricate landscape of sounds mixed with eloquent lyrics, thought-provoking visual art, and haunting melodies.
Jariya is comprised of Eve Buigues (lead vocals, piano, keyboards, loops, drums)(France), Andrea Bensmiller (guitars, electric violin, mandolin, synth, vocals)(U.S.) and Marika Tjelios (bass, keyboards, guitar, samples & loops, drums, vocals)(Canada).
Jariya's live performances intermingle organic and electronic instruments in an experimental blend of rock/jazz/electronic with innovative video art and lighting. The three members of Jariya move effortlessly from one instrument to the next during this 90-minute show which draws comparisons to the likes of Radiohead, Zero 7 and PJ Harvey. Jariya fuse thought-provoking lyrics and a balance between dramatic instrumental interludes and modern song-oriented rock into their work. Special guests and new material are featured in every performance.
Jariya has been featured in Girlfriends magazine, L.N., Rock City News, and LA Times Online, "What's Hot in LA." They also produce film music in their private studio and have been featured in features, shorts and TV shows, including Margaret Cho's "Notorious C.H.O.", Margaret Cho's new feature film "Bam Bam and Celeste", Lorene Machado's "Starcrossed", the AOL/Launch promotion for "Jack Black's School of Rock", and The Discovery Health Channel's "Impact: Stories of Survival."
Both of Jariya's CDs can be purchased on iTunes, amazon.com and at www.cdbaby.com/jariya2. For video, pictures, music and additional information about Jariya, please visit them at: http//www.myspace.com/jariyamusic.
