RE|Dance Group Presents The Long And Forgotten Winter
The Long And Forgotten Winter is a myth or allegory for our modern times. Ardent devotion, both liberal and conservative, has created a fractured atlas of right and wrong. Focusing on the central theme of passage, the work examines the splintered and tense connection between past and future. In the work, the dancers set out on a pilgrimage to begin anewthey are surveyors that push beyond a present rife with uncertainty and doubt to reveal a future of courage and possibility. Using images of ancient expeditions to inspire the movement language, the 9-member ensemble unisons are interrupted by brief, singular moments of individuality and risky, explosive partnering. The work combines the visual, aural, and physical to render a unique perspective about finding solace in a volatile contemporary world.
