The Festival of Conscious Parenting

Scheduled for the Summer Solstice Weekend in Santa Rosa, California, The Festival of Conscious Parenting is a volunteer staffed charity-sponsored event that will draw teachers, authors, researchers, organizations and practitioners of diverse spiritual and psychological traditions. The Festival will offer inspiring and informative lectures, panels, rituals, break-out groups, and a vibrant information/resource sharing scene. Friday evening June 20 and Saturday June 21 will be for adults; Sunday June 22 will bring the whole family together with activities for both children and adults.

The Festival of Conscious Parenting supports the creation of loving contexts for children by sharing the diverse awareness practices and resources of the world's spiritual and psychological traditions. Conscious parenting is the process where adults learn to create environments for children to grow up healthy, resilient and whole.

Spiritual and psychological tools, including mindfulness, meditation, prayer, mantra and body-awareness practices, are resources that can help us consciously model loving, generous, and kind behavior for children. The purpose of the festival is to make these resources available to a wider audience. Through the diverse traditions explored at the festival, we can learn to better secure the foundation for every child's healthy growth and exploration of life's possibilities.

Preliminary schedule of events:

Friday June 20 7:30-9:30 pm. The Glaser Center on Mendocino Ave in Santa Rosa:
FREE INTRODUCTORY EVENING for the Festival of Conscious Parenting

Saturday June 21 10 am - 5 pm. Sonoma Country Day School campus (near the Sonoma County Airport):
ADULTS ONLY. COST: $65--$35 sliding scale. Vegetarian lunch included in price. Program to include plenary speakers, panel discussions, a wide variety of break-out groups, individual advice to parents and others, plus a vibrant resource/information sharing scene.

Sunday June 22 (check website for hours) Sonoma Country Day School campus.
FREE CHILDREN AND FAMILY DAY. Group rituals, fun activities for kids and families, break-out groups, resource/information sharing, and more.
